The creature known as Viodow, or “Violet Shadow,” is a being that exists across multiple worlds and universes. Despite its ghost-like appearance, it is a living entity made of matter. Its inner body is composed of a unique substance that can shift between liquid and gaseous states. Although Viodows have a very peaceful and playful nature, they are feared, persecuted and slaughtered or held captive.

Let’s delve into the fascinating details of this enigmatic creature.

Physical Characteristics

The Inside – A Living Mystery:
Unlike other living beings, Viodows doesn’t have a heart or a brain in the conventional sense. Instead, a thick, almost magical fluid fills its body, among a very thin, light and formable neural web that control its consciousness. The fluid is highly sensitive to temperature changes: when warmed, it turns into gas, giving Viodow the ability to fly. But if it gets too cold, the fluid solidifies, damaging the neural pathways and fatally harming the Viodow.

The Outside – It’s not a ghost:
With its ghostly white body and glowing purple accents, Viodows may look like a phantom at first glance. It has no feet and floats, as if gravity doesn’t quite apply. Viodow’s large, black eyes radiate calmness and curiosity, though it can’t actually “see” with them. These eyes serve instead as speakers and microphones, allowing it to communicate and perceive its surroundings through sound.

Heat Storage – Viodow’s “Life Battery”:
Inside its body are two critical heat storage areas: one in its head and another in its lower body. These reserves are charged by sunlight, like a solar battery. When fully charged, Viodow can survive for up to a month without additional sunlight. This energy is essential for everything it does – from flying to communicating. The more energy it has stored, the brighter the purple accents above its eyes and around its body glow, acting as a sort of “life gauge.”

Life Functions and Survival

Heat Storage – Viodow’s Lifeline:
A Viodow charges itself with sunlight, functioning like a living solar panel. This stored heat is vital for its movement and communication abilities. A full storage allows it the freedom to fly and speak, but it must manage its energy wisely – especially if it goes for long periods without sunlight. Viodow has learned to direct its heat precisely to control its flight direction and speed. However, if it misuses its heat, it can lead to uncontrolled movements, and an uncontrolled release of energy can result in abrupt flying bursts.

Sight, Hearing, and Speech – A Sensory Wonder:
Though a Viodow has no ears or nose, it can perceive its surroundings. Its body surface detects sound waves, and its large eyes function somewhat like microphones. By sensing these sound waves, it can hear and “see” / navigate its environment – similar to a bat’s echolocation. Thanks to a membrane in theier inner eyes it’s possible to create vibrations using some of the saved heat. Viodows can control those perfectly and produce different sounds and even different voices. So, every conversation costs precious heat, that’s why they keep it short and simple – sometimes it’s like talking to a child.

Behavior and Personality

Playful, Curious, and Strong – The Soul of Viodow:
Viodow is a peaceful creature, driven by a love of play and exploration. Its childlike curiosity pushes it to learn and understand new things constantly. Although it despises violence, it possesses an nearly uncontrollable and dangerous strength. When its body fluid is thick, a simple tap from a Viodow could be painful for humans and a strong punch even deadly. But in its gaseous form, it is weak and vulnerable.

Conflict with Humanity

Misunderstood and Feared – Viodow’s Tragic Fate:
Because of its immense strength and its playful nature, a few fatal accidents have happened. That’s why people have developed a fear and hate against those creatures. In every world it visits, it is met with distrust and hostility. Humanity has found ways to harm or even kill the Viodows, either through with sharp objects or extreme cold / by capturing them and long deprivation of sunlight. Severe damage to its body often leads to a desperate escape attempt, during which it may lose its vital fluid – potentially leading to death or it is left with lasting impairments in its flight control.

Viodow’s Origin

Viodows cannot reproduce and thus cannot increase their numbers. They have no knowledge of where they originally came from – the only thing they know for certain is that they once arrived from the depths of space. This uncertainty makes them a mystery even to themselves, sparking curiosity in those who seek to understand more about their existence.

Sad reality

In most worlds, there are only a few Viodows left in the wild. Most have been captured and suffer from cruel experiments conducted on them or are tortured out of fear and revenge. Nevertheless, they stay peaceful and sometimes they are even open towards other humans.
